Gene Cantamesa was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. John Coffey (Coffey Sound owner) spoke and read letters from Ivan Reitman (Director and Producer) and Steven Spielberg (Filmmaker), Jim Osburn (IATSE Local 695 Business Agent) spoke and read a tribute from Jack Solomon (Sound Mixer, former Lifetime Achievement Award recipient). Leonard Nimoy (Director and Actor), and Peter Hyams (Director and Cinematographer) also shared tributes.
President's Award
Ed Bernds (one of the first sound mixers, who got his start in 1928) was presented with President’s Award.
Leo Chaloukian (Senior VP of Soundelux, former president of the Television Academy, former owner of Ryder Sound) presented the 1998 Emmy Winners and shared stories of this year’s Career Achievement winner Gene Cantamesa.
Tex Rudloff (Regional Manager for Zonal Sound, former president of Lion’s Gate Sound and one of the CAS founders) recognized the 1999 Best Sound Oscar nominees.
