Special Awards

Career Achievement Award

The CAS selects a recipient for the highly prestigious Career Achievement Award each year as well. This recipient will have been a successful and well-regarded mixer (either production or post) that deserves the highest praise from their peers. They elevate the craft by their hard work and dedication, and so the CAS chooses to honor them justly.

Filmmaker Award

We also choose to honor a filmmaker who truly understands what the sound crafts can bring to their projects, and have provided the world with brilliant works of art and storytelling with our CAS Filmmaker Award.

Jeffrey S. Wexler Award
For Advancement in Sound Technology

The Jeffrey S. Wexler Award honors individuals, companies and products that have had a profound impact on the art and craft of sound mixing. This award may recognize advancements that either extensively improved on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially changed how sound is recorded, mixed or delivered. The award may be given to a specific technology, individual or product, or to multiple technologies, individuals or products honoring a wider category of contribution.

Student Recognition Award

The CAS prides itself on promoting the next generation of sound mixers and bestows a Student Recognition Award. Each year we hold our “Student Recognition Award” competition. This award is intended to encourage students’ interest in audio production and post-production sound mixing, and to recognize individuals with exceptional and demonstrated passion for the field. Five finalists are selected from the applicants which include any student in good standing currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. Students may be pursuing any major but should have a demonstrated interest and some experience in “sound mixing” for audio production and/or post-production for film and television. All qualified students are encouraged to apply.
