Ken Nightingall | Boom Operator

Veteran boom operator Ken Nightingall passed away in March at the age of 92. Ken’s successful career included work on many James Bond films such as For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, and The Living Daylights. However, a 2015 released behind-the-scenes photo of him booming on the set of the original Star Wars film (A New Hope) in Tunisia – shirtless wearing pink shorts – brought much attention in fan circles where he became known as “Pink Shorts Boom Guy.” Remembering Ken, Chris Munro CAS shared, “He was immensely supportive of me as I carved my early career as a young sound mixer. ‘Legend’ is the word that springs to mind when I try to describe him.” The CAS extends our condolences to Ken’s family and friends.
