Film composer Ennio Morricone passed away in early July at the age of 91. Ennio’s compositional output is unprecedented, scoring for over 500 projects. He wrote for many genres including comedy, drama, thrillers, and westerns and worked with such acclaimed directors as John Carpenter, Brian De Palma, Terrence Malick, Mike Nichols, and Quentin Tarantino among others. In 2016, Ennio won an Oscar for his score to Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. He was nominated for another six Oscars and received an Honorary Award from the Academy “For his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music” in 2007. The CAS extends our condolences to Ennio’s family, friends, and colleagues.
