On January 24th, 2020, the Cinema Audio Society created a day of networking and audio adventures for our Student Recognition Award Finalists. The top of the day was hosted by CAS Board Member and owner of The Dub Stage, Marti Humphrey. Accompanied by Sherry Klein, CAS Board member and head of our Education/Student Recognition Award Committee, and Lauren Johnson, Avid Pro Audio Solutions Specialist and former SRA Student Finalist, the students experienced a sound demo and Q&A at The Dub Stage, enjoyed lunch at Porto’s sponsored by Avid and ended the day with a private tour of WB Post Sound facilities hosted by Duke Lim, Vice President, Warner Bros. Post Production Creative Services, as well as a WB studio lot tour.
With the generous support of The Dub Stage, Avid and Warner Bros. Studios, Cinema Audio Society was delighted to offer this unique experience to our talented students. These incredibly promising individuals honor us with their presence and focus and excite us for the future of sound for picture.
The CAS Student Recognition Award was first presented at the CAS Awards in 2015, this honor comes with a cash award and gift bag worth thousands in professional equipment. This award is intended to encourage students’ interest in production or post-production sound mixing, and to recognize individual students with an exceptional demonstrated passion for the field.
